How does country blocking work?
Hostilla Geo Block checks the visitor IP address and compares it with a current geolocation database. If traffic comes from a country covered by the rule, the server can reject it before the web application starts consuming PHP, database or CMS resources.
This is practical for company websites, shops and panels that serve a defined market and do not want large automated scans from places where they do not have customers.
How do I enable Hostilla Geo Block?
Log in to the Hostilla.pl customer panel, choose the correct hosting service, open Hostilla cPanel and click the Hostilla Geo Block icon. Then select the domain, country and blocking type, and save the change.
If you do not see the icon or are not sure which domain to choose, contact support with the account name, domain and the goal of the block.
My website is attacked from another country
For a repeated attack you can quickly limit traffic from that country with Hostilla Geo Block. At the same time send support the date, time, website address, sample IP addresses, error messages and whether the issue affects the website, mail, contact form, WordPress or login.
Geo Block, CSF/LFD and other protection layers
Hostilla Geo Block limits traffic by country at the web hosting level. CSF/LFD works differently: it detects suspicious login attempts, abuse and network behavior that may lead to a temporary IP block.
In practice these layers complement each other: Geo Block limits an unwanted traffic region, while CSF/LFD watches account and service security.
When should I be careful?
Do not block an entire country without checking whether you have customers, partners, payment gateways, external APIs, payment systems, CDN nodes or testing tools there. A country block may also affect integrations that connect from unexpected locations.
